No One's 13-15 + Boulder Head 7 and 8

First post here in a long while, wasn't what I was originally coming here for (that'll become apparent soon enough ;).) but I thought I'd share what I found the other day. I was having a look through on GB64 to see if anything new Boulder Dash wise turned up, but instead of taking a look through the...

Heh, it's no problem. I must've seen something like that before somewhere else, then again i've played tons of boulderdash games. :)

I'm glad to have helped anyway. :)

Are you sure it's impossible? I would've thought if you crush the pumpkin with good timing on that purple spot, one of the diamonds from it will spawn above the ghost, and then the ghost's explosion should break the wall.

I've not tested this either but i'm certain it'd work.

Yes, that's right. :)

I actually had to double-check myself, but yes, it's cave E.

Your turn, Dustin.

Here goes:

In No One's redesigned version of BD4, which cave remains completely unchanged in all 5 levels, in comparison to the same cave in Dr Watsons BD4? (This doesn't include the number of diamonds required)

I think I may have found one of the differences.

In the screenshot of Cave F, there is a boulder pattern to the right of Rockford like this: (O=boulder, --=Dirt)

O--
O--
O--
--O
--O

But in the cover that Arno posted, those 5 boulders are arranged differently, like this:

O--
O--
--O
--O
--O

At first glance, the box doesn't seem to have any mistakes, but i'll have a guess.

The cover shows Cave F, but it's not possible that the player could have reached that cave and not got any score from the diamonds in Cave E.

I'm going to guess it's 3. The reason being that the creator of the cave may be lying about the middle exit being "fake". The left exit has been eliminated sa fake, therefore Rockford should just take a guess at either the middle or right-hand exit.

Yep, that's right Arno! Your cave shows what I was exactly thinking of.

It's your turn to ask a question.

Okay, I got one. Hope it's not too tough (or easy for that matter.). :)

When playing a standard cave in the PLCK game engine, is there a way to survive, after a rockford doll has been destroyed? If so, can you describe how this can happen?

Wow, i'm surprised I got that one. Hurray for researching, I guess! :D I must admit, I haven't played Marathon Dash properly before, i've only had a quick try it a while back. I can't think of a good question to ask right now. I'll have a think, and try and post one by tomorrow (fingers crossed).

Sorry for reviving an old topic, but I felt like having a guess at this last question. Of course I had to do a bit of research first... Since a clue said that it was programmed by Prof Knibble, I checked your website, LogicDeluxe, and downloaded the games there in the Prof. Knibble zip folder. Next ...

Seeing as i've only just joined, I guess i should add my story too, i'll try to keep it short-ish. :) I first played Boulderdash when I was quite young (about 5 I think) in the early 90's, on my parents C64. We had a copy of BD1,BD2,BD3, and BD4 (which I now know were the levels included with the PL...

Thanks for the welcome Arno. :)

And yes, that's the cave I was talking about LogicDeluxe, cave K. I agree the BD3 graphics are pretty bad, it would've been better to leave them like the original in my oppinion.

Re: False beliefs?

When I was younger I used to think that fireflies and butterflies would only follow and chase you round the cave, not realising how they actually move. That the amoeba animation-bug in BD3 was an intended feature! Did you mean when the amoeba froze? I used to think that too. In fact, I thought the b...
