What prevents you from starting one?
Lack of time, skill and a TAC-2. ;)

It's too bad BD doesn't really have a speedrun community. I would have loved to see people compete over solutions and outdo each other by finding alternative routes.

Or do we have any current record holders? :D

BoulderDashME for Java cellphones

Hello guys, I stumbled across this game when I was browsing www.getjar.com for cellphone Java games. This little 135 kB jar file contains no less than 62 games/clones (BD1, BD3-11, B-Head 1-3, NoOne 1-30, Professional 1-19 etc etc). It runs very smooth but unfortunately it also runs too fast on my W...

Thank you Sendy, that was very interesting to read! I can totally recognize the feeling of being terrified of the fireflies, as I wrote in a previous post. And the first cave's colour scheme is definitely burned into my brain as well. :)

Thanks for taking the time and explaining your story!

I was introduced to BD by my uncle, sometime in the late 80s (I was born in 81 and I must have been 8 or 9), this was on a real C64 with a disk drive and he had a lot of BD games, 1-16 plus some other versions like Brutalo - it was only recently I realized that only I, II and III were official. I ra...

Re: Regular "patterns" in early BD games

Arno wrote:- Cave A is often a very simple cave with random boulders, diamonds and some walls. The same for cave C (somewhat harder).
The C caves don't contain any empty "space" from start (2 and 11 are exceptions), so it's always dead quiet when you start a C cave. :) They're usually yellow, too.

Thanks for the info! Interesting to know that it was removed in BD2. I stumbled upon two levels while playing Boulder Rush that are impossible to win in that engine, "Game 17 Cave 15" and "Game 20 Cave 18". Does anyone know which games these come from? The first is an intermissio...

The bugs I know of in BD1 are: - Triggering the magic wall causes any amoeba present to turn into diamonds. Are you sure that this is really considered a bug? I have a vague memory of a cave - most likely in one of the clones - where the only way to gather enough diamonds was to convert the amoeba ...

Thanks a lot for the clarification, and forgive me for forgetting that BD2 isn't included! So did No One create his versions mainly because some of the caves in the originals (1 & 3) and Don Pedro's were considered too difficult? What is the general opinion here? You guys seem to know a l...

The "slight differences" of No One's 16 BD

Hello! I recently discovered this great website and forum and have been looking through the sections trying to find out more information about "No One's 16 Boulderdash Games". I keep reading how they are "slightly different" from the originals/clones they're based on, but I would...
