BDCFF->BMP Converter and BD2 graphics

Post by Simon »

Hi Arno,
do you have any plans to support the different BD2 graphics (dirt modification) in your BDCFF->BMP Converter tool for BD2 levels with slime or amoeba?
I'd really like to see the original cave graphics in the BD2 maps.

Yep, among other things, I'm planning to support the BD2 dirt modification in 2 variants:

- for amoeba caves only;
- for amoeba and slime caves.

But... no idea yet when this update will be released.... :dunno:

My next caveset will contain custom graphics. Does the BMP converter read those Arno? It would be neat to see what the maps look like with the proper graphics.

Unfortunately not... a separate graphics (text)file needs to be created.

It shouldn't be too difficult for me to manually create such a text file. I'm pretty quick at that sort of thing.

I hope that other people get tempted to use my graphics, too. They are fairly close to the original graphics, but slightly 'modernized'. They work well with different palettes, and are quite pleasing on the eye, yet they still aren't as versatile as the original graphics themselves.

I seriously think that the BD graphics are under-rated. They are versatile and enhance the gameplay. Just because they are fuzzy and blocky, most of the C64 scene seem to prefer games like "Creatures" which have fantastic graphics but gameplay that couldn't come close to Boulderdash.

Heh. Rant over.

This is great news! I love to see the BD2 cave maps with correct amoeba and slime colors and dirt graphics. Thank you!
