Dustin's BD 24 is on the way!
A brand new game of the Dustin's BD series is coming out soon, again with the familiar 5-level system and, this time, rather moderate difficulty with emphasis on neat cave designs!
As always, here are the cave names as an appertizer:
A - Poledance
B - Olympia
C - Amoeba Wrap
D - Zig Zag Dance
E - Giant Garden
F - Name of a Legend
G - Four Windows
H - Quick Trick
I - Floors and Doors
J - Backtrack with Bricktrick (try to say this quickly!9 :D
K - Amoeba-Wrapped
L - Six Mix
M - Leaky Cauldrons (Greetings from Tom, the barkeeper!) ;)
N - Disguise
O - Double Funnel (for the retro cave quota!)
P - Pirate Islands
Int 1 - Jewel Board
Int 2 - Parallel Worlds
Int 3 - Great Wall of China
Int 4 - Pilers

Merry Xmas and happy digging! :D

Cool new cave set! (And easy enough so that I at least have a chance to play it! :D )

I have updated the GDash level package for R'n'D accordingly, to be played with Rocks'n'Diamonds with GDash game engine!

Announcement: Dustin's BD 25!
Hi guys, it's time for jubilee as DBD25 will come out soon! I still remember that when I started the series, I thought I had enough ideas for two, maybe three episodes... well, it's become a bit more by now! :D

It's going to be another 5-level classic game with standard elements and a mix of new ideas and old ideas in fresh design! As an appertizer, here are the names (as I have them at the moment) of the caves, plus some descriptions to increase your curiosity ;) BTW it will be 8 intermissions again (as in DBD23), because I have so many intermission ideas that I didn't want to have to decide which ones to throw out!

Cave A (Turn of the Tide): Maybe this little idea to flood a cave is new - at least I haven't sen it before!
Cave B (Prison Patrol)
Intermission 1 (Darkstoorm's Underpass): An unusual way to lead a firefly where Rockford needs it!

Cave C (Mandelbrot): Made for the design, mathematicians will have an idea how this will look! And it's challenging too :D
Cave D (Endless Rain): The first usage of open borders in the series!
Intermission 2 (Counterpart(ie)s)

Cave E (Observation Station) One more DBD-crush-butterflies-with-good-timing-cave ;)
Cave F (Cross Dance): Shows a very harmonic dance between fire-and butterflies. I'm quite proud of the design of this cave, as it required careful planning and usage of cavescanning order effects to make it work! (The gameplay will not require such advanced tricks, though!)
Intermission 3 (Diamond Pushing): Apparently, the only way to solve this one is to push a diamond like a boulder, but isn't that impossible...?

Cave G (Lake of Itomori): Named after my favorite anime <3
Cave H (Manhattan): This cave starts with elements A and B, but soon there will only be elements C and D left in it...
Intermission 4 (Temple of Prudence)

Cave I (Replenishment)
Cave J (Random Rooms): Three different tasks to choose from, but... the choice isn't made by Rockford!
Intermission 5 (Magic Wand)

Cave K (Sunken Treasures)
Cave L (Block Pyramid)
Intermission 6 (Maze Race): An unusual race between Rockford and a firefly!

Cave M (Leaky Funnel): Save the diamonds before they leak out!
Cave N (Switzerland): The first cave in the series which has no standard 40x22 size!
Intermission 7 (Free the Rock!): Three butterflies, three rocks, 27 diamonds required, but one rock looks completely unusable... a little puzzle!

Cave O (Dungeon): Definitely the oldest cave of the game, I had this one ready for years! Rockford is in a dark dungeon with many, many fireflies!
Cave P (Dig-it-yourself): A simple design, and yet this is maybe the most non-standard cave of the game!
Intermission 8 (Butterfly Gridlock): Based on a butterfly pattern that occured a lot to me when playing standard butterfly-amoeba caves! It's a kind of mini tutorial how to lead a chain of butterflies where you want them!

Release soon, likely in June or July (of this year, of course) :D

Dustin wrote: Fri Oct 25, 2019 3:43 pm The game is finished and will probably be on the Game Base the next days! As the name might already tell you, the cave "Kaizo Kingdoms" is by far the hardest cave of all Dustin's BD games so far. Lots of hard spots where you'll probably have to find the right way by trail-and-error in several attempts, precise timing needed more than once, and so on - I simply packed all of my most evil BD ideas during the last year into this cave! ;D On level 1, only 1 out of 8 diamonds is needed, and even for this I still needed 4-5 attempts during my final testings. On level 5, with the quick speed as an additional difficulty, I wasn't even close to a successful attempt yet! I wish you a lot of fun with this and the nineteen other new caves and ints!
You are right, BD11 Cave Kaizo Kingdoms/5 is quite hard.
But now I'm stuck on BD11 Cave Overseized Obstacle/5 and it's much more dificult for me than Kaizo Kingdoms/5.

Great, congrats! Actually, the solution you found wasn't even intended :D  (And BTW, I had a flash of laughter when the sound effect came after the wall was opened!) :D

Here's a video from Arno, showing two other solutions - first my intended one, and then another creative one which has similarities, but also differences from yours:

youtu.be/qg8kFfx8x7c

And wow, I didn't know you were currently playing and recording every Dustin's BD game on each difficulty level! You must really enjoy playing my games, I feel much appreciated and honored, thank you :)

I also watched your Kaizo Kingdoms/5 solution - great! :worshippy: You kind of cheated for the top-left section by letting the other two fireflies interfere with the spinning fireflies - it might look like that was intended, but it was actually an oversight by me, I would otherwise have prevented that with growing walls (that's not 'glitchy' enough to make an update, though, let alone for the fact that the cave is still hard enough!) :D

Here's Arno's full intended run - including the bottom-right corner as well, but with lower speed:

Annnnnnd... a run by Nesdori, a member of our community at Krissz's site, who found an insane way to get >40 diamonds:

If you should have any questions or need any help with future L5 beasts of the series, always feel free to ask! Or you can check if Arno has uploaded the solution (video title: "Dustin's BDXY Cave Z L5")

I wish you a lot of fun with my next games! :D

...still inside my announcement ;)

Have fun with my jubilee! Thanks Arno for the release! And for those who seek the challenge, I'm confident level 5 will again give you some hard nuts to crack! ;)

You're very close! Actually, it's the very last butterfly where you leave the missing diamond:

Your method: gets you 3D from that butterfly (+4, -1)

Better method: For that method, Rockford should not take the two diamonds in the small room in the middle beforehand. There should still be six diamonds in it. Now, crush the final butterfly in this small room, using the two rightmost diamonds from the "sixpack". This gains Rockford 4 diamonds (+6, -2), one more than with your method! (Yes, it is very narrow in this small room, but it's still possible to perform the crush as described!)

Place Rockford directly below one of the entrances of the wall box and wait for the butterfly to move into the corner, like this:

WSS
WBS
WDE
DRD
(W=Wall S=Space D=Dirt R=Rockford B=Butterfly E=Expanding wall)
In this situation, snap upwards to clear the dirt above Rockford. The butterfly will move out before the Expanding wall closes.

(BTW I think on L5 this is one of the hardest caves of the whole series, because some more - and harder - tricks of this kind will be needed!)
