Even so, it's still a pretty stable release. Just ensure you keep a couple of backups if you are editing a cave set because I have found it to crash on occasion and even though it doesn't affect the gameplay it is still annoying. I keep regular backups of the caveset I'm working on which has 60+ caves, many of them are yet to be done but I'm working on it

Just a heads up...
I'm thinking of building a completely new PC and plan to install Windows 10.
Can anyone here confirm that GDash will work in Windows 10? I keep reading about OpenGL and new drivers being required for Windows 10, so not sure as I haven't tested it myself.
Can anyone chime in and verify that it runs under Win 10?

Yesterday I installed at home on Ubuntu 14.04
I downloaded from
https://bitbucket.org/czirkoszoltan/gdash/downloads/ file gdash-20130427unstable.tar.gz
I read on the internet how to install games (programs) with .tar.gz ...
... and nothing comes out.
Please advice how to install Gdash under Ubuntu 14.04 step by step?
Unless it is somewhere in the repository or there are .deb packages

I have an idea for Gdash.
Introduction of scripts.
For example, picking up a diamond will result in the appearance of another element defined by the player.
Or, for example, a falling stone will cause the earth to disappear in the indicated place.
Either by killing a butterfly, the wall disappears, exposing the exit. e.t.c.

After many tries
After much discouragement
Finally i got my
I installed Gdash from the tar.gz file
Everything works just like in windows
Being euphoric, I decided to continue to install programs from tar.gz
I installed VICE
However, the version under ubuntu is different than WinVice, so I think ...

Interesting idea with the script. But I do not know if this would cause severe compatibility issues.
Nevertheless I hope that cirix will continue working on GDash some day...

Hello CSW.
I was worried that no one in the forum anymore is looking.
I was wondering what it would be like with these scripts.
Backward compatibility would be, unchanged.
I'm not a programmer, it would be good if cirix himself said it.
Cirix, please ... enter new options in Gdash

And one more thing.
In the bd1-3.bd file is the SLIME2 element, Gdash sees this as an error.
This will be found in xdc-2012-12-10

Shame to say but I discovered GDash today.

Better late than never. I've tested few BD cavesets, especially I've checked Zulder Dash/Tropyx and I'm just wonder if someone could implement character set from this game to GDash? Rockford in my game smokes cigarette and collects bottles instead of diamonds

Without these character sets the fun of the game is missing
Anyway, great effort! Congrats for awesome work.
I find annyoying to hear double noise of fallen stone.

I wonder - and still hope - if development of GDash will be continued some day. Despite of all clones and official releases in the last few years, GDash is still the best Boulder Dash out there. I consider it equal with the original Boulder Dash on Atari 800 from 1984...

I accidentally stumbled over some small news about GDash. I saw that some changes in the source were made lately and, something pleasant, it was added to MacPort so that installation on a Mac should be much easier now. Maybe more is coming?

Could I echo zsom's request from a year ago.. Does anyone know how to install the .tar.gz on Ubuntu (or Linux Mint for that matter, which i'm running on my laptop)
I've no clue either. (I run it on my Windows 7 box just fine)

sopwith, this forum is unfortunately almost dead.
I am looking here in the hope that cirix will write a joyful message about the continuation of her super Gdash game.
or logicdeluxe will write that it will complete its new xdc engine.
Meanwhile, I watch movies that arno shares here.
it's true, they are amazing, but in Gdash it can not be repeated the same.
As for Gdash under ubuntu.
I did it myself, about a year ago.
However, today I do not use ubuntu anymore, and I can not remember what I did, that I did it then.
I have been playing boulderdash since 1993, and I still like it very much.

Hi!
Really glad for joining you!!!
I just compiled the last version on Debian Jessie (oldstable) x64 KDE.
Only 2 glitches to report (possible bugs maybe):
1) Using OpenGL in full-screen is off-screen partially.
You can't see the entire stage.
Personally, I switched to SDL.
2) Only the default graphic set seems to be available.
Choosing something else, doesn't seems to have any effect.
I'll be back, after playing a bit with it.
