I'm wondering, how the objects are exactly animated in bd. It seems that each animation sequence consists of 8 pictures, and these 8 pictures are always drawn in a loop. But how many pictures are drawn during one scan (or one "frame")? I already made a guess, but I'm really not sure if I'm right.

Explosions of any kind and blinking in/outboxes show one picture per cave scan.
Continues animations are not related to cave scans. There, each frame lasts for two tv fields. It is therefor slightly faster on NTSC than on PAL machines.

Thanks. You already helped me much. Very Happy
If I understand right, about 12.5 different pictures per second are drawn on a PAL system.

The animations of the objects slime/amoeba, fireflies, butterflies, diamonds and a moving Rockford are always drawn in a loop of 8 pictures. Is this correct?

But how does it work with Rockford blinking and stamping?

I've got the intention that there are the following possibilities:

- Rockford is just standing with hanging his arms
- Rockford is blinking with hanging his arms
- Rockford is stamping without hanging his arms
- Rockford is blinking without hanging his arms

One of these animation sequences is chosen randomly. Is this correct?
