Using BDCFF>BMP converter for higher levels

Post by RTADash »

This tip only works on games with more than one difficulty level, of course.
For those who don't know, several of the cave attributes (diamonds required, cave time, and rand seed) have five numerical values in a line representing, in order, difficulty levels 1-5.

Example:
CaveTime=150 110 70 40 30 means...
You get 150 seconds on level 1, 110 on level 2, etc.

So if you want to view the caves in a BDCFF on, lets say, level 3, all you need to do is copy the file (to back up the original) and replace all the level 1 values with the level 3 values (but ONLY for the three mentioned above)

Example: (change-lines are marked *)
Name=Cave A. Intro
Description=Pick up jewels and exit before time is up
DiamondValue=10 15
*DiamondsRequired=12 12 12 12 12
*CaveTime=150 110 70 40 30
Colors=Orange Gray1 White
*RandSeed=10 11 12 13 14
RandomFill=SPACE 60 BOULDER 50 DIAMOND 9

...Should be changed to:
Name=Cave A. Intro
Description=Pick up jewels and exit before time is up
DiamondValue=10 15
*DiamondsRequired=12 12 12 12 12 (no change here :wink: )
*CaveTime=70 110 70 40 30
Colors=Orange Gray1 White
*RandSeed=12 11 12 13 14
RandomFill=SPACE 60 BOULDER 50 DIAMOND 9

Fun, isn't it... :)
Boulders are round.
Fireflies are square.
I need to find
a'way out of here.

This is a good "work around"! :) One day I will implement an optional multi-level conversion in the BDCFF2BMP converter as well.....

[Edit] As of 29-7-2007 this multi-level conversion is available in version 1.2 of the BDCFF->MAPS Converter! :D
