Re: Miho Dash

of course, it is easy to change the source code to omit any of those flags, so they are strictly "informative", not "anti-cheating" anyway. Exactly, and same with R'n'D, where you can easily modify and recompile the source code and submit scores/tapes created with "cheating...

Re: Miho Dash

Some more comments on "zigzag movement": proper handling of "left+up" and such keys: Rockford will go in zigzag pattern instead of preferring the single direction. That's something which I added to the Emerald Mine engine in (my own BD clone) Rocks'n'Diamonds and this is exactly ...

Re: Miho Dash

or, write only the buttons which actually did something. this way zigzag will be converted to corresponding keypresses, and even new tapes will be compatible That would indeed be a solution that would ensure that new tapes work on old game versions. However, the problem with this approach is that i...

Re: Miho Dash

i am not a fan of online things. ;-) Indeed I have a similar approach with R'n'D, although it does support some online functionality with the high scores. I will always make sure that R'n'D can be played offline without any problems (but without the additional online functionality then, of course)....

Re: Miho Dash

Wow, that's an impressive list of features! Did you do the impementation from scratch, or did you use the GDash source code as a reference for the game engine (which is a really mature BD engine that covers a lot of edge cases just like the old original games did)? Regarding replays, this so...

Re: [offtopic] the internet's current toxicity (rant)

Don't let the internet, and especially "social" media, brink you down! :( So better just leave those toxic places behind (as you said you did), and instead spend some time with things you love, and which make you happy! :) This may be this forum (at least I hope so) and its topic (that is,...

Re: Rocks'n'Diamonds with GDash game engine

I just have one question. In setup and game engines, there is an option for random colors. How do I get a level I choose to play use random colors instead of the predetermined ones for that level? I set random colors to on but the levels I play still use the predetermined colors. Oops, indeed! :sho...

Ah yes, and "besides", Dustin's BD 25 is out on the Game Base! Quite late, but... Release soon, likely in June or July (of this year, of course) :D ...still inside my announcement ;) Have fun with my jubilee! Thanks Arno for the release! And for those who seek the challenge, I'm confident...

Re: Alchemyst Dig!

I was indeed using the cave sets from the latest version of the semi-official GDash repository (" gdash-export-CrLi "). The cave that did not work there is the very first cave from "Alchemyst DangerDash Vol. 2", which locked the player at the very start. I have replaced all cave ...

Re: Alchemyst Dig!

Just updated the GDash level package for R'n'D accordingly, if you like to play this new cave set with Rocks'n'Diamonds with GDash game engine! The updated package also contains a few fixes for cave sets "Alchemyst DangerDash" and "Alchemyst Dig", which makes one previously unsol...

Re: Rocks'n'Diamonds with GDash game engine

Great to hear that you like it, and that it was a new start with BD for you! :) To create a new, empty level set in R'n'D, just go to the level editor, click button "CONF", click tab "LEVELSET", select "create new level set" in the "action" selectbox and click...

Re: Boulderdash conversion

This is all very interesting, and I will also check and compare the ".gds" versions with the ".bd" versions of the cave sets mentioned here, and how they might differ regarding playability/solvability of caves as mentioned. Regarding "old GDash" vs. "new GDash"...
